TANA announces US$ 100k for Hudhud Relief Boston, USA: Telugu Association of North America (TANA), the largest Telugu organization outside India, announced today that it will be making an initial contribution of 100,000 US dollars to the relief efforts for the victims of Cyclone Hudhud. Mohan Nannapaneni, President of TANA, expressed his shock with the unprecedented disaster caused by cyclone Hudhud in the Northern districts of Andhra Pradesh and expressed his heartfelt sympathy to everybody that was affected by this cyclone.
The current picture is grim and TANA intends to help with the rescue and rehabilitation, immediate relief for the displaced and effected people and also assist with long term rebuilding measures. As Andhra Pradesh state has just started building the infrastructure for a capital and other administrative needs, he felt that this catastrophe dealt a severe blow to all these developmental activities.
After an emergency meeting, TANA leadership declared an initial contribution of $100,000 to the cyclone relief efforts and decided to put forward the best efforts to raise more funds for this cause.
TANA has a proven history of service and has always been in the forefront and provided immediate and long term assistance in similar situations in the past. TANA built more than 800 permanent homes for past flood and cyclone victims in Kurnool, Krishna and Prakasam Districts. Altogether, TANA has contributed more than 40 million dollars for various service and developmental activities in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Mohan Nannapaneni and Satish Vemana, Secretary of TANA, are going to meet the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu to hand over the check. TANA leadership requested all NRI's particularly Telugu people living in North America to respond and contribute generously for this cause. TANA and TANA Foundation will be matching the contributions from individual donations. All the funds collected by TANA for this cause will be directly sent to the relief efforts. All contributions to TANA are tax-deductible in USA.
