Land protection cell strengthened with police HYDERABAD: Giving more teeth to the Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district administrations in protecting government lands, the state government had deputed police personnel as special staff in the Land Protection Cell.
The allocation of nearly 44 police personnel from sub-inspector to constable rank was made following a request by the collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy to the government.
In their report, the collectors of the two districts said with rapid urbanisation, the land grabbers were adopting all available ways and means to grab government lands and tankbed lands in the two districts.
The government had earlier sanctioned additional staff to theLand Protection Cell but the collectors felt that the staff was unable to attend the land protection work effectively due to various reasons.
The district administrations have said that taking stern action against land grabbers has become difficult as the grabbers were attacking the field staff.
Keeping this view, the collectors urged the government to sanction police personnel to the Land protection Cell and depute them in the divisions of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy East and Chevella.
The government has sanctioned four SIs and also eight head constables and 32 constables for the Cell.
