'She Teams' formed to curb eve teasing in city Hyderabad, Oct 24 (INN): The city police on Friday launched 100 'She Team' to curb eve teasing in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The 'She Teams' will be working under direct supervision of Swati Lakra Addl. Commissioner of Police, Crimes & SIT. The City Police have already identified and plotted the places and timings where eve teasing is prominent. These places are under surveillance of these teams.
As part of this exercise, the stalkers will be identified and brought to the CCS Police Station. Counseling will be done along with stalker family members in the police station. His activity sheet will be prepared and kept in central data base and his activities will be monitored on a daily basis.
Besides initiating legal action as per the provisions of law, stringent action will be initiated under Nirbhaya Act, if he comes to adverse notice repeatedly. The victim's name and identity will be kept confidential.
Dail 100 will be the help line to lodge all complaints by the victims in this regard. 'She Teams' which are already in the field will swing into action immediately after receiving the call in addition to acting on their own.
Awareness programmes will also be conducted throughout the Hyderabad City to women to come out openly and to inform also to men to know about consequences of teasing or sexual harassment and stringent laws existing to protect women at open places, on transit, at work places.
The Public Transport drivers and conductors and MMTS Trains staff have been asked to either inform to 'dial 100' or take vehicle to nearest police station on information from women of teasing.
All the arrested persons by 'She Teams' will be media briefed. It is also proposed to send a proposal to Government to enact a new Law on eve-teasing on the lines of AP Anti Ragging Act and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Eve Teasing Act, according to the Police Commissioner.
