"Sowbhagyam" off to a colourful start Tiruchanoor: 'Sowbhagyam' the innovative program mulled by TTD to invite women devotees for the annual brahmotsavams of Goddess Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor scheduled for November 19 to 27, off to a colorful start in the temple town on Saturday.
The program will last for six days including the invitation being extended to women devotees residing in Tirupati, Tiruchanoor and surrounding areas in a traditional way by offering them turmeric, vermilion, sacred yellow threads, kankanams and bangles.
Speaking on this occasion, the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad(HDPP) Special Officer Raghunath said, these materials have been sent to around 145 temples surrounding the temple town of Tiruchanoor and Tirupati apart from these two pilgrim centres. 'Sumangali Puja' will also be conducted by women devotees in the temples of their respective localities. Later the holy materials will be distributed to the married women in every household from 9am to 7pm till November 20.
Meanwhile the procession of these holy items began in colorful and ceremonious way where all women officers and staff of TTD took part. The procession began from Pasupumandapam and later reached Tiruchanoor temple.
