Kadiam holds rich experience in governance Hyderabad, Jan 25 (INN): The newly inducted minister Kadiam Srihari is probably one of the most experienced politician in the cabinet of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Born in Parvathagiri village of Warangal district on 8th July, 1952, Kadiam holds a Masters Degree in Science from Osmania University. He began his professional career as a manager of Syndicate Bank in Nizamabad district.
However, after two years, he switched over to teaching profession and served as a lecturer from almost a decade till 1987. Following an invitation by TDP founder late N T Rama Rao, he joined politics in February 1987 and held various posts in Warangal district.
Kadiam Srihari got elected as MLA from Station Ghanpur seat in 1994 elections. He was then inducted as the minister in NTR's cabinet. He also served as a minister in the cabinet of N Chandrababu Naidu.
He held important portfolios including Irrigation, Social Welfare, Education and Marketing. He retained the seat for two terms till 2004 before losing it to TRS candidate Dr Vijaya Rama Rao.
Kadiam played a lead role in Telangana statehood movement and was instrumental in getting pro-Telangana letter from the TDP. He had also represented the party in an all-party meeting held in New Delhi.
He resigned from the TDP on May 11, 2013, and four days later, he joined the TRS. He got elected as Member of Parliament from Warangal Parliamentary constituency. On Sunday, he was inducted as the minister and has been assigned the Education portfolio by the Chief Minister.
Kadiam is married to Vinaya Rani and has three daughters Kavya, Divya and Ramya.
