Heat wave kills 102 persons in TS, AP Hyderabad, May 24 (INN): The heat wave conditions have claimed at least 102 lives in the Telugu States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
While 60 persons were killed in Andhra Pradesh, 42 deaths were reported in Telangana State. As many as 15 deaths were reported in Karimnagar, seven in Khammam, six each in Warangal and Nalgonda, three in Nizamabad, two in Mahabubnagar and one each in Ranga Reddy, Medak and Adilabad district. Similarly, so far, six deaths each have been reported from Vizianagaram, Prakasam and Nellore districts, three in West Godavari, two in Kadapa and one each from Anantapuram, Chittoor, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts.
While Vijayawada was hottest with 47.3 degrees Celsius in AP, highest temperature in Telangana was recorded in Ramagundem with 46.1 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the joint capital Hyderabad was 42.5. The other towns where highest temperature was recorded are Machilipatnam - 46.9, Ramagundem - 46.1, Hanamkonda - 45.8, Kakinada - 44.7, Ongole - 44.3, Tirupati - 42, Nellore - 42.1, Anantapur - 41.2, Kurnool - 41.5, Kalingapatnam - 36, Visakhapatnam - 34.1 and Hanamkonda - 45.8.
