SCR GM inspects Train Collision Avoidance System Hyderabad, March 21 (INN): South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Ravindra Gupta inspected the field trials of Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) system on Lingampalli-Vikarabad Section of Secunderabad Division on Monday. TCAS is an indigenously developed system of Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow and South Central Railway.
The TCAS provides real-time display of signaling information inside Locomotive cab to provide aid to drivers and to enable them to run the trains at higher speeds. It also enhances safety by taking care of any misjudgment by train drivers in applying the brakes and prevents Signal Passing at Danger by automatic application of brakes. This would also be helpful in foggy weather.
The General Manager extensively reviewed the implementation of TCAS and inspected the functioning of the system on run. He wanted that the field trials be completed at the earliest by addressing the teething problems of the system during use. TCAS has been introduced on 250 km stretch of Lingampalli ' Vikarabad ' Wadi Section and on Vikarabad ' Bidar section of SCR for extensive field trials.
Chief Signal & Telecommunications Engineer M.S. Mahaboob Ali, Chief Electrical Engineer Solan Gupta, Chief Operations Manager N. Madhusudan Rao, Divisional Railway Manager Ashesh Agarwal, Project Director L.K. Mansukhani and other senior officers were also present.
