Heavy Rains: IT sector remains unhurt Hyderabad, Sept 23 (INN): The heavy rains for the last few days had no impact on the functioning of Information Technology sector.
On Friday, there was a meeting jointly held by Society for Cyberabad Security Council , HYSEA ,NASSCOM and ITE&C department with participation from Cyberabad Police Commissioner, the IT industry representatives, to understand the issues and impact faced by the industry due to incessant rains and plan mitigative action to face any contingencies for business continuity. Leaders of many MNCs, Heads of Facilities and Security heads attended the meeting.
The common feedback from all the industry representatives said that the attendance in most of the companies is either normal or to the extent of between 90-95% compared to the normal days. Though Employees are spending more time for commute, it did not affect the business deliverables and had not caused any disruptions to the client's deliverables / services. Industry has asked its employees wherever possible, to work from home and also given flexi-timings so that the work is not affected - they are also implementing staggered work timings so that travel time could be less. There is least disruption in terms of either Power availability or water ' Zero interruption in terms of connectivity.
Overall, they felt that the incessant rains have not affected their operations and it is Business As Usual. Some of the companies said they have stacked up all necessary items to meet any kind of exigencies like fuel, food etc.
Many people have expressed concern about unnecessary rumors floating and it is decided that SCSC, NASSCOM and HYSEA would periodically release alerts on their websites to keep all the stake holders to get the real time situation and alerts. These alerts would be in the form of Traffic, road safety or any other major disruptions faced / expected.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya addressed the gathering and said to ensure near normalcy he is engaging, even Law & Order people to help Traffic police to regulate traffic. He urged people not to believe any kind of rumors spread by rumor mongers and to follow various alerts put on SCSC / HYSEA / Nasscom websites.
The Secretary for SCSC Bharani Kumar Aroll explained the participants about the various measures being by SCSC in disseminating the right information on Security and Traffic safety. Further he indicated that SCSC will be requesting the Government on some immediate repair activities to improve the roads and also requested the industry representatives to be prepared for any relief activity for those affected by the rains.
Industry people have urged the media to be sensitive to Industry concerns and not to propagate any messages or news that will impact the industry's interests.
