Muthoot Finance office burgled, Rs 13L cash, gold stolen SANGAREDDY: In a major burglary, unidentified youths gained entry into Muthoot Finance office in Zaheerabad in Medak district on Sunday night and disappeared with Rs 13 lakh cash and an unspecified quantity of gold mortgaged by people for obtaining loans.
According to police, the staff noticed the the burglary on Monday morning. They found the doors of the safe open and the articles inside it were found strewn all around. They also found the window removed and the strongroom broken.
The staff immediately alerted the police. The intruders wore masks to evade identification as they were aware that there were CC cameras inside the office. The footage of the CC camera revealed that they were six in number .
Finance company general manager Venkateswaran lodged a complaint with the police. He could not quantify the gold stolen.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad's Afzalgunj police arrested a 25-year-old person who was moving under suspicious circumstances at the MGBS. Police detained him and found a bag containing gold and cash worth Rs 2.2 crore.
After preliminary probe, it was revealed that gold and cash were stolen from Muthoot Finance in Zaheerabad. According to police, they recovered 7 kg gold ornaments, cash Rs 13. 42 lakh, a mobile phone and ID card from him.
The arrested person -- Ashok Sharma, is a native of Jam Nagar village in Jharkhand. The police, on searching him found 499 small envelopes containing gold items having a sticker of Muthoot Super Loan, Zaheerabad 2205 branch and also has the details of the depositor, weight, amount and date of deposit and cash.
On questioning the youth told him that he worked for the gang that looted the Muthoot Finance company office in Zaheerabad. One of the burglars handed him over the bag containing gold and cash to him at Nampally railway station with instructions that he should hand it over to someone who would approach him at MGBS.
