TDP MLA's wife alleges domestic violence, files case Vijayawada: The Penamaluru police registered a case against Kaikaluru TDP MLA, Jayamangalam Venkataramana, on charges of harassing his wife Sunitha. The legislator, has been facing charges of harassment and domestic violence by his wife for the past three years.
The Penamaluru police, upon her complaint, have registered cases under IPC sections 448 (criminal trespass), 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against the legislator. The Mandavalli police under Kaikaluru Assembly segment have already registered a case of dowry harassment against the legislator in August last year.
Sunitha told the police that she had already filed dowry harassment case against the legislator in the past. She alleged that her husband had visited her on January 30 in her house at Tulasinagar of Kanuru village on the outskirts of the city, and had threatened to kill her if she failed to withdraw all cases against him and walk out of his life.
Sunitha also told the media that the legislator had been harassing her physically and psychologically and feared that he would eliminate her and her three children. Sunitha said that she had married Venkataramana in 1997 after his first wife died. The couple has three children two daughters and son, with whom Sunitha lives as the married life did not work.
The Penamaluru Inspector, Murali Krishna, told the media persons that they have registered case against the legislator following the complaint lodged by Sunitha. He said that they would review the complaint and investigate before proceeding further.
