Jagan calls it a black day, gives bandh call Delhi, Feb 18, 2014: Protesting against the passage of Telangana bill by Lok Sabha in a secret and hush-hush manner, YSR Congress President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy called for andhra pradesh bandh tomorrow to express the party's disapproval of the bifurcation that took place in utter disregard of democratic conventions.
Speaking to media persons in Delhi today after the Lok Sabha passed the Telangana bill by voice vote in secrecy; Jagan Mohan Reddy said the passing of the bill is totally unconstitutional.
'Even in a country like Pakistan also this type of democratic violation does not take place. Congress party president Sonia Gandhi resorted to this act acting like a dictator,' Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He said Sonia Gandhi stooped to lowest ebbs of passing the bill in a totally despicable and hush-hush manner. 'I wonder whether we are staying in Indian democracy. In the past, we talked of Hitler as a dictator but now we have to call Sonia as the dictator,' Jagan said, squarely blaming Sonia, Chandrababu and BJP for the division.
Congress leadership has bifurcated the state for political mileage and for votes and seats, he said, saying that the passing of the T bill by Lok Sabha stood as witness for the undemocratic act.
'They have adopted the bill by suspending some of my Seemandhra colleagues and clearing the House of other Seemandhra members. This is unprecedented and condemnable,' he said. He called upon the people to observe bandh tomorrow in full and express their protest against the bifurcation.
