It's raining gifts for outgoing legislators
HYDERABAD: It is raining gifts for the outgoing legislators of the state Assembly and Council. Besides, laser printers, they will also get Sony J20236 all-in-one desktop computers.
The finance department accorded financial clearance for both the items on Wednesday. It may be recalled that the finance department recently issued orders to procure 400 HP Hotspot Laserjet printers to gift the outgoing MLAs and MLCs.
The cost of desktop computers was `188 lakh and the cost of laser printers was `67.60 lakh. It means that each legislator will get gifts worth `63,900.
It may be recalled that the state government permitted the finance department to procure printers recently. The finance department accorded financial sanction on Wednesday to this effect. Each printer costs around `16,900 and each desktop `47,000.
In the wake of current political situation in the state, the MLAs could not do any official work with the elections round the corner. Despite this, Kiran Reddy, who demitted office on Wednesday, cleared the proposals this week as a gift to legislators.
