It's neither victory nor defeat says KCR Hyderabad: In the moment of extraordinary jubilation, Telangana Rashtra Samithi founder-president K Chandrasekhar Rao sounded humble. While thanking leaders of various political parties for ensuring the passage of the Telangana bill in both Houses of the Parliament, KCR said that it was neither a victory nor a defeat of any region.
"The people of Seemandhra can live a happy life in Hyderabad," he said. KCR has been in the forefront of the Statehood movement ever since the launch of TRS in 2001 and was often criticised for his rabble-rousing speeches in the past.
However, on the day of the victory for the Telangana cause, KCR was humility personified. Addressing a press conference after the passage of Telangana bill in Rajya Sabha, he thanked the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde, BJP president Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely and other party leaders for helping in the passage of the bill.
Heaping praise on Sonia Gandhi, the TRS chief said "without her interest and strong commitment, the Telangana State would not have become possible. The Telangana State is a reality now. I convey my heartfelt thanks to Soniaji and Manmohan Singhji."
He asserted that Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad would be very much part of Telangana. "We never assumed that they were not part of Telangana. They are part of Telangana and all can live happily in Hyderabad," said KCR.
He paid tributes to the martyrs of Telangana cause and the others who had helped the party during the agitation programmes. Recalling the contribution from different quarters in Telangana, KCR said,"I cannot forget the martyrs of Telangana, you have poured life into me and to the agitation whenever I felt dejected.
