TRS leaders advise KCR against merger HYDERABAD: After keeping its word of delivering Telanganga state, the Congress has now sounded the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on his promise that he would merge his party with the Congress in return for T state.
According to sources, KCR is staying in Delhi to meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to express his gratitude. As if doing preparatory work, Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel conferred with her and discussed what they should ask KCR when he finally calls on her.
Sources said party functionaries are suggesting that KCR should go in for an alliance and not for merger.
In the event of merger, the party leaders want KCR to insist that he should have full power over selection of candidates in Telangana. In case he agrees for an alliance, may be he should seek two thirds of Assembly tickets and cede two thirds of Lok Sabha seats to the Congress.
