Kiran all set to float new party in a week HYDERABAD: Caretaker Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy appears set to float a new political party at the behest of expelled MPs from the Congress who want an alternative platform to contest the ensuing elections.
Indications to this effect were dropped by the expelled MPs after a brainstorming session with Kiran Reddy. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, MP Sabbam Hari said, 'We insisted that Kiran float a new party as there is a political vacuum in Seemandhra. He has almost decided to launch a party on the Samaikyandhra plank. Clarity will emerge in the next two days.'
His colleague GV Harsha Kumar said they were sure Kiran Reddy would float a party. 'Kiran Reddy will meet some Seemandhra ministers and Congress MLAs/MLCs on Monday.
He will have discussions with leaders of various Joint Action Committees of Seemandhra on Tuesday. After that, he will announce his decision,' Minister Sake Sailajanath said.
Initially, Kiran Reddy is understood to have been reluctant to form a party. But the expelled MPs told him in no uncertain terms that they had crossed the Lakshman Rekha at his instance. Therefore, it was his responsibility to provide them an alternative platform, they argued.
The MPs reportedly had a heated argument with Kiran Reddy ' their contention being that his repeated assurances against bifurcation of the State led them to defy the Congress high command ' when he had expressed his unwillingness to form a new outfit.
Lagadapati Rajagopal, Sabbam Hari, V Arun Kumar, Sai Pratap, Harsha Kumar and R Sambasiva Rao, who were expelled from the Congress, besides Ministers Sake Sailajanath, P Satyanarayana and K Parthasarathi attended the meeting.
