BJP swings into election mode in state HYDERABAD: With Telangana state becoming a reality, the BJP has come into the election mode and is all set to take credit for the division and take up yatras and special initiatives to reach out to the people of the region.
With TRS and Congress taking credit for the division, the saffron party does not want to lag behind and had asked its cadres to tell to the people that Telangana state had become reality due to the BJP's support.
The BJP organised a meeting of party Telangana district presidents, state executive members and office-bearers at the party office to discuss the future course of action and ensuing elections.
Senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu, state president G Kishan Reddy, state leaders Bandaru Dattatraya and Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Telangana Udyam Committee chairman Rajeshwar Rao, MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Y Lakshminarayana and E Srinivas Reddy and others attended the meeting.
According to sources, Venkaiah Naidu urged the leaders to take up programmes to highlight the efforts of the party in making the T-state a reality. He asked them to reach out to the people and bring them into party fold. He told the leaders to explain to the people the benefit of voting the BJP to power both at the Centre and in the state.
'Now, division has become a reality. Let us reconcile to the fact and forget the past and move forward. We should focus on ensuing elections and make efforts to win seats,' he told the leaders.
The meeting also decided to hold a public meeting next month in Hyderabad and invite senior BJP leader and leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj and other national leaders. They felt such a meeting will help connect with the people and take credit for the division of the state.
Kishan Reddy reportedly asked the leaders to organise 'Vijay Yatras' in all the districts of Telangana and highlight the efforts of the party in making the dream of the people of Telangana come true.
The meeting also passed two resolution--one thanking BJP's national leaders for supporting the T-bill, and second, paying homage to those who died for the cause of Telangana.
The meeting also decide to provide pensions, employment, agricultural land, house sites and education to the family members of Telangana martyrs.
