Sudden downpour drowns city, chokes traffic HYDERABAD: Heavy rain lashed the twin cities on Sunday, inundating several low- lying areas. The downpour, which lasted for over a couple of hours, resulted in heavy traffic blockages and water-logging. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre measured 6.6 mm rainfall in the city till 5.30 pm.
Several residential areas like in LB Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Lower Tank Bund, Kavadiguda, Domalguda, Amberpet, Moazam Jahi Market, Chaderghat, Bagh Lingampally, Barkatpura, Salar Jung Colony, Towlichowki, Aditya Nagar, Sheikpet, Hafeezpet, Lakdikapul, Maitrivanam, Erragadda, Fatehnagar, Bahadurpura, Chatrinaka, Dabeerpura and Shahlibanda suffered water stagnation and inundation. Rain water entered houses near Parsigutta resulting in inconvenience to the public.
The Met department has predicted more of isolated rains or thundershowers. The maximum temperature recorded in the city er was 30 degree celsius and the minimum 19.6. On Saturday, according to the Met department, the maximum temperatures appreciably fell at one or two places in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.
They were markedly below normal at one or two places over Telangana, appreciably below normal at one or two places over coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 35 degree Celsius was recorded at Rentachintala in Guntur district and Anantapur. The minimum temperatures appreciably fell at one or two places over Telangana and fell at one or two places over Rayalaseema and changed a little over coastal Andhra.
They were appreciably above normal at few places in Rayalaseema, above normal at few places in coastal Andhra but appreciably below normal at one or two places in Telangana. Adilabad recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16 degree Celsius.
