No polls in 16 municipalities and nine corporations HYDERABAD: Elections will not be held for 16 municipalities and nagar panchayats and 9 municipal corporations in the state. In Srikakulam district, elections will not be held for Srikakulam and Rajam municipalities as there is stay order issued by the High Court on merger of gram panchayats.
Similarly Nellimarla in Vizianagaram, Kandukur in Prakasam, Anaparthy in East Godavari and Rajampet in Kadapa district are also not going to polls due to High Court stay orders.
No polls will be held for Siddipet in Medak district as status quo was issued on inclusion of areas in Siddipet, while in Dubbaka there is a stay on conduct of elections.
In case of Chegunta in the district, report of district collector on draft delimitation is yet to be submitted. In Mahbubnagar, Kollapur is not going for elections as Yellur village is yet to be merged with the municipalities as per the High Court order. In Jadcherla there is status quo issued on merger of villages and in Achampet the pre-election work was not completed.
Election for Medchal in Ranga Reddy district is not being held as the delimitation process is still under progress. Mandammari in Adilabad, Manugur and Palwancha in Khamma fall under Scheduled Areas.
Khammam Warangal Municipal Corporations are not going to polls due to High Court's orders for taking up a fresh delimitation process. No elections are held in Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation due to merger of gram panchayats. In case of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the term of the existing elected body will end only in December 2014.
Elections are not being held in Ongole and Tirupati, as there is a stay order on merger of gram panchayats. In case of Kakinada, re-delimitation had to be done with inclusion of Vakalapudi gram panchayat. Similarly re-delimitation had to be taken up in Kurnool and Guntur.
