KCR writes to Prez against ordinance HYDERABAD: Strongly opposing the proposed Ordinance to merge some villages in Khammam district with Seemandhra region under Polavaram project, TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao dashed off a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee.
'The proposed Ordinance seeking to alter the boundaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as contained in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, was not referred to the state legislatures, for their views, as mandated by the Article 3 of the Constitution,' Rao said in the letter.
He further stated that 'the proposed Ordinance takes away 450 MW hydro-power station at Lower Sileru, which is not going to be submerged at all. Further, the criterion of allocation of power from Central generating stations to both the states has been changed.
It would significantly reduce Telangana's share,' Rao said. He said Polavaram project would submerge areas in Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. A large number of people in all the three states would require relief and rehabilitation package.
