YSRCP facing hard time with ticket aspirants Hyderabad: The increasing number of ticket aspirants in the YSR Congress Party to contest general elections has put the party leadership under great pressure in the Seemandhra region.
The party which was in an upbeat mood till recently as it was the most favoured party for those who wanted to switch loyalties is now worried as it is facing a tough time in finalising the candidates as the number of aspirants for the majority of Lok Sabha and Assembly segments has increased manifold in Seemandhra districts.
To begin with, the party senior leader Bhooma Nagi Reddy was keen to contest Nandyal parliamentary constituency. He has been a close aide of Jagan and was also looking after the party affairs in his native Kurnool district till recently. The Congress MP, SPY Reddy, who recently switched loyalties to YSR party, has now become his competitor.
Sources said the two leaders were claiming to be the party candidates in the district and have also launched their campaigns. In Visakhapatnam district, two senior leaders Konatala Ramakrishna and Dadi Veebhadra Rao have locked horns to prove their dominance in the party in the district. The two leaders have created their own party network. Konatala and Rao are keen to contest from Anakapalle Parliamentary constituency.
In Srikakulam district, party senior leaders H Kiran Kumar, Narasannapet MLA D Krishna Das and former Itchapuram MLA P Sairaj are vying for the ticket from Srikakulam Parliamentary constituency.
In Nellore district, the leaders from BC community in the party are demanding some Assembly seats. Of the 14 Assembly con stituencies in the district, leaders belonging to the Reddy commu nity have been appointed as co ordinators in 11 segments. The other three SC reserved con stituencies are being coordinated by SC leaders.
In Chittoor district also, the BC leaders were demanding party tickets to the community They want Kuppam, Nagari Srikalahasti and Madanapalle seats where a majority of the voters are BCs.
YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy plans to hold a constituency level meeting with al leaders and aspirants to avoid de fections from the party before the elections.
