Actor Pawan Kalyan to unveil his political ambitions on 14 March Hyderabad: Another star is set to rise on the political firmament of Andhra Pradesh. 'Power Star' Pawan Kalyan is said to have made up his mind to launch a new political party and contest the coming elections in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions.
Pavan Kalyan, the maverick younger brother of megastar-turned-Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi, is set to address his fans, followers and media at a specially arranged programmed at Hitex on 14 March where he is expected to reveal his political plans.
Pavan, according to one of his confidants, would also release a book which is a compilation of his opinions penned by himself about various issues plaguing the society at large from the same venue.
According to sources, he has decided to launch a party to fight the coming elections to the Assembly and Lok Sabha. Sources also said that the popular actor is likely to contest from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha in Telangana and Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency in Seemandhra.
Social activists and prominent members from various non-governmental organizations would be shortlisted to contest both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. He may also declare candidates for various constituencies.
The first list will include names for nine Lok Sabha and 40 Assembly constituencies, sources said. Pavan Kalyan is said to be nursing a strained relationship with his elder brother Chiranjeevi who had merged his Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress.
Several parties, including TDP, BJP, Lok Satta and Aam Aadmi Party, have been making efforts to lure star power into their camp in view of his popularity. It is learnt that the actor is currently busy fine-tuning his political outfit's policies and programmes.
Sources close to him said that he would clear the air of suspense on Sunday and in all probability announce the details of his party. The party would fight elections in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions.
