KCR promises to make Palamuru green HYDERABAD: Stating that he had achieved Telangana state as Mahbubnagar MP, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao has praised the 'fighting spirit' of Palamuru people and their relentless struggle for the last 14 years.
Addressing a large public gathering in Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district on Thursday, Rao said he will not rest until he ensured Krishna waters flow free through the drought-prone district making it green yielding bumper harvests.
'Would any one imagine a land between two rivers suffering from drought? Yes, there is one, Mahbubnagar--a victim of the faulty polices of the governments in the integrated state of Andhra Pradesh.
Whenever I visited Mahbubnagar district, I used to stop on the bridge over Krishna and put a five rupee coin praying to the river to flow free in Palamuru. Now, with Telangana state achieved, no one can stop Krishna river from flowing through the district and irrigating lakhs of acres,' he said.
Recalling his reaction to former MLA of Nandikotkur (Kurnool district) Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy's comment to blast RDS project (Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme) more than a decade ago, KCR explained that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, who as chief minister had promised diversion of waters from Jurala project through canals to RDS for irrigating 35,000 acres, failed to ensure it even after 12 years since the announcement. 'Then there was Jalayagnam. But not more that 2,000 acres are getting waters under RDS,' he said.
The TRS chief called upon people to elect TRS candidates for every MLA and MP seat from Mahbubnagar district. 'I will show what KCR can do. You have seen and know what I am, and I would not rest until I get 14 lakh acres irrigated in the district with Krishna water. Time will come when people from other districts come here to help harvest the crop,' he said.
Another project at Gurramgadda will be constructed for holding enough water for the entire Mahbubnagar district, he added.
Asking people of Gadwal constituency and the rest of Mahbubnagar district not to get cheated again by voting for the 'same old faces' who have done nothing for them, he called upon them to give their mandate to TRS.
'I will ensure that every one is taken care of. Valmiki Boyas in Telangana will be made SCs. The TRS government's first GO will be in that regard,' he said.
Expressing his concern over the faction fights in Gadwal region, Rao said hate and violence will not lead to development. 'Only love will ensure progress. Let the white dove of peace fly freely in Gadwal,' he said.
Switching over to Urdu, Rao called for the support of Muslims, promising to take them on the path of development, which had been denied to them till now.
He assured allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for their welfare and development. On the occasion, he announced Krishnamohan Reddy as TRS candidate for Gadwal Assembly constituency. He also promised to make Gattu Bheemudu, another leader, an MLC.
