YSRCP to Contest Polls in All Regions

Hyderabad, March 8 (INN): Exuding its preparedness to face the ensuing elections, YSR Congress has said that it will pit candidates for all elections in all the regions, will fight the battle for ballot under the common symbol of fan and district-wise committees will be formed to monitor the elections to civic bodies, MPTCs and general elections.

'A meeting of the district conveners was held to discuss the poll strategy under the chairmanship of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Party Honorary President YS Vijaymma which took stock of the situation and chalked out the programme to face the multiple elections coming up in close proximity,' party senior leader Konatala Ramakrishna told reporters here on Saturday after the meeting.

We will contest for all the posts in municipal elections, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs), Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs), Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in all the regions and the Party is taking the polls seriously.

While the campaigning part will taken up by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YS Vijayamma and Sharmila district wise committees will be formed with convenors and observers to monitor the election process right from selecting the nominees.

The cadre that was active in the Party programmes will be nominated from ward members and upwards and our Party President will tour the entire state for the electioneering. He will be assisted by YS Vijayamma and Sharmila and the tour programme will be finalized soon.

'The Odarpu Yatra is not called off and is very much on. We did not get permission to visit some areas and once it is accorded YS Jagan Mohan Reddy or his representative will continue the Yatra,' he said.

'As of now we do not have any tie-up with any political party and we have finalized the names of the candidates for almost all the seats. We will announce the names at an appropriate time. Convenors from all the districts have attended the meeting and our Party will contest polls in all the regions,' he said.

When asked about the Supreme Court observation and former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's comment that he will rejoin the divided State, Ramakrishna said: 'Kiran Kumar Reddy could not act firmly when the ball was in his court. He failed to convene a special session of the assembly to pass a resolution against the division and did not resign immediately after the decision on division was taken.

Cases were filed in the apex court by our party representative Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and many others belonging to other political parties as well and it would be sub judice to speak on the subject,' he said.

The Congress government which was always looking after its own interests did not bother about the empowering local bodies by holding elections and funds to tune of Rs 3,000 crores could not reach the panchayats for development work.

This is against the spirit of amendment to article 73 and 74 which empowers decentralization of governance, he said.
