Jairam given grand welcome on KCR's turf KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of rural development Jairam Ramesh was accorded a grand welcome by the District Congress Committee (DCC) at Alugunur crossroads on the outskirts of Karimnagar on Sunday.
Former minister D Sridhar Babu, Arepalli Mohan, MPs Ponnam Prabahakar and Rajaiah, MLA A Praveen Reddy and DCC president K Ravinder Rao welcomed the Union minister by offering party Kanduvas. AICC SC cell president Koppula Raju was alaso welcomed.
Ramesh began his yatra from Alugunur after paying tribute to the statue of BR Ambedkar. He proceeded to the Arts College grounds where youth Congress leaders and party activists raise slogans praising him for his role in drafting the GoM report on Telangana.
Town leaders, led by president Kanna Krishna and another group of youth welcomed him by bursting crackers and showered flowers on him at Manair Bridge. A two-hour fire cracker display was held at the meeting venue.
