Naidu seeks Kiran, Pawan's backing HYDERABAD: Claiming that the TDP coming to power in Seemandhra is a historical need, party chief N Chandrababu Naidu called upon all the non-Congress, non-YSRC parties, and former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and actor Pawan Kalyan, to support the TDP in the ensuing polls.
Speaking to reporters after admitting former ministers from Kurnool district TG Venkatesh and Erasu Pratap Reddy into the party, Naidu said Kiran and Pawan Kalyan, instead of floating new political parties, should support TDP and teach Congress and YSRC a lesson.
'Not only Kiran and Pawan, but all those who planto float new parties should support TDP. They should ponder how formation of new parties will help people. I advise them to strengthen TDP, rather than float new parties,' he said.
'When Kiran was chief minister, he did nothing for the people and now what is he going to achieve by floating a new party? Instead of wasting time and effort, he should support TDP which is going to come to power in Seemandhra,' he said.
'The election results in Seemandhra will be one- sided. In the coming days, there will be only one party in Seemandhra and that will be the TDP. Once we get majority, we can concentrate on developmental activities and even put pressure on the Centre to provide additional funds. I will make Seemandhra a Swarnandhra,' he remarked.
The people of Seemandhra are of firm belief that their region could be developed only by the TDP, he claimed. 'The hard work his party had done during its term is helping it win the confidence of the people. TDP had a proven track record and people believe that it is the only party which could develop their region,' he said.
With Congress becoming weak and people not believing YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, people of Seemandhra are banking on TDP, he claimed.
On setting up of separate party units in the two states, the TDP chief said a decision would be taken within three days.
He said he would give party nominations only to those whom people want. 'I have started selecting candidates and will go by people's feedback,' he remarked.
'In Telangana, a BC leader should become the first chief minister,' he said.
Welcoming TG Venkatesh and Erasu Pratap Reddy into the party, Naidu said the two will strengthen TDP in Kurnool district.
TG Venkatesh said he trusts the leadership of Naidu. 'It's a homecoming for me. I was successful as a minister due the training I got in TDP,' he said. Pratap Reddy said: 'As the Congress had failed to address our concerns, there was no point continuing in the party.'
