Kiran vows to reunite divided AP Hyderabad : Former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday vowed to fight for the self-respect of Telugu people and would not rest till the newly formed Telangana and the residuary State Andhra Pradesh are reunited.
Likening the division of the State with that of Germany, he prophesied that the people of Telangana would revolt against their rulers to reunite Telangana and Seemandhra State in a similar manner as Germans did to reunite East Germany with West Germany by knocking down the great Berlin Wall.
'I want you (Journalists) to write it down. There will be an uprising of people in the newly formed Telangana State very soon. People of Telangana will come out and agitate to reunite their State with Seemandhra State as they are bound to face a lot of problems in the new State.
Nobody can prevent it. I will continue my fight to unify both the States,' he said while brandishing a remnant piece of the Berlin Wall at a media conference held to announce the name of his proposed political party.
Kiran's new party would be called Jai Samaikhandhra Party (JSP). He announced that the party would contest in the ensuing general elections with 'Teluguvaari Aatma Gouravam' (Telugu People's Self Respect) slogan.
Addressing mediapersons along with expelled Congress MPs Lagadapati Rajagopal and Sabbam Hari, the former CM called upon farmers, students, women, lawyers and the doctors' fraternity to support his party in the upcoming elections.
Kiran said that the main objective behind launching his party was to provide a platform for people with self-respect to exercise their vote. 'I have launched this party as there is a need to provide an opportunity to people with self-respect to cast their vote in the coming general elections. I appeal all such people to vote for my party,'
'These people cannot vote Congress, BJP, YSRCP and TDP as all of them have betrayed the people of Seemandhra by extending their support to the division of the State,' he said.
The former CM said that details related to ideals and policies of the party would be announced during the maiden public meeting at Rajahmundry on Wednesday. Reddy further said that he would give party tickets to only those who work hard for their victory.
He also utilized the occasion to take potshots at TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu and TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao. Mocking at the claims of Naidu that he alone could develop Seemandhra State, Reddy alleged that the TDP president was the main culprit behind the bifurcation.
'Naidu is the main brain behind the division of the State. Congress Party gave its nod for the division after taking his approval. He is making tall Statements now after making all-out efforts to ensure the division of the State,' Kiran attacked.
Reacting to news reports as to why he could not work with Naidu instead of floating a separate party for the development of the new Seemandhra State, Kiran said, 'Naidu never participated in any debate in the Assembly on the issues and problems faced by the Seemandhra people in the event of bifurcation of the State. He ran off like a coward. It would be an insult for me to work with such a person.'
Criticizing the recent claims of TRS President KCR over development of Telangana State, the former CM alleged that the former always lied to the people of his region.
'He always tried to mislead the Telangana people. He is misleading them by making tall promises on irrigation and power status in Telangana State,' he said. Chundru Srihari Rao is the actual founder resident of the JSP as he had registered it with the State Election ommission.
Kiran Reddy took over the same after having talks with him. G Gangadhar is the general secretary of the party. Lagadapati Rajagopal, one of the six MPs expelled from Congress last month, would be the party's strategist.
Four other expelled MPs Sai Pratap, Sabbam Hari, V Arun Kumar and two former State inisters S Sailajanath and Pitani Satyanarayana would be the vice presidents of the party.
