Naidu goes hitech in selecting candidates HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu will be adopting hitech methods for selecting candidates for Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, scheduled next month.
Disclosing to mediapersons his novel method for shortlisting candidates, the TDP chief said he is adopting e-selection of MP and MLA candidates and his party had taken a giant stride by going hitech.
He said that using Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology for the first time in the country, he will be selecting the candidates in the most transparent manner.
'People will have a say in who will be contesting on the party ticket from which constituency. For each constituency, Three names will be given to the people to choose from.
Further, there will also be a NOTA option. The entire process will be done using IVR technology. It will be like an opinion poll,' he explained. The TDP will send messages to crores of cellphones, so that people can determine TDP's candidates for Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Asked if this selection process is applicable to those who joined the party recently, he said it will be so and himself will not be an exception. About the demand for a responsible position for film actor Balakrishna in the party, Chandrababu said he is ready to let Balakrishna contest either for MP or MLA seat, depending on his choice.
