Jairam makes light of Kiran's party RAJAHMUNDRY: Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh made light of launching of 'Jai Samaikyandhra Party' by former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and stated that the new party would sink in Rajahmundry, the place of its birth.
Jairam Ramesh told reporters here that senior leaders were abandoning the Congress after enjoying power for years together for their selfish motives. He was confident that young leadership would emerge in the Congress under the current circumstances.
'The Congress gave life to many leaders who are heading other political parties in the state. Be it Chandrababu Naidu, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy or now Kiran Kumar Reddy, all of them got political life due to the Congress.
It would not have any impact on the Congress. Instead it would encourage new and emerging leadership,' he said. Measures will be taken to strengthen the party in the region.
The Union minister found fault with Kiran Reddy and Seemandhra MPs for not speaking about the decisions of the UPA government that benefitted the people in Seemandhra area and instead, they chose to talk ill about the Congress leadership.
'Leaders from both Telangana and Seemandhra branded me as an agent from the other region for trying to create an awareness about the provisions in the bill for their benefit. The UPA government gave birth to twins through the state division and both the states are very dear to the Congress leadership,' he said.
Jairam also took pains to convince the party leaders over the sops given by the UPA and listed out various provisions in favour of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh that found place in the T Bill.
