TDP to face tough fight in Chittoor constituency CHITTOOR: If it is actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) factor that worried the TDP in Chittoor Lok Sabha constituency in 2009 elections, this time YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRC and the proposed party of N Kiran Kumar Reddy might well spoil sitting MP N Siva Prasad's prospects this time.
Though the Chittoor Parliamentary constituency is a stronghold of TDP for decades, Siva Prasad is likely to face tough contest from YSRC and the sitting MP is taking no chances.
The Congress, which came second in the last elections, this time, might end up without even having a candidate who can give a fight as a majority of the party leaders have migrated to other parties following the bifurcation of the state.
Siva Prasad, on the other hand, has his own advantages. His major advantage is the Kuppam Assembly constituency, the home constituency of TD chief N Chandrababu Naidu, and also Palamaneru constituency. Both are strongholds of the party and the votes here determine the victory of candidates in LS polls.
Former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy's party, Jai Samaikyandhra, might also show some impact as Chittoor is Kiran Kumar Reddy's home district.
When it comes to general issues, people here have a major complaint with regard to non-availability of drinking water over the years. Though Siva Prasad has been assuring all support for the scheme, it did not materialise.
