Naidu woos urban voters with freebies HYDERABAD: In an effort to woo urban voters Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu has announced a number of freebies, including jobs for one member of each family in Seemandhra and Telangana states.
Speaking after releasing the party's poll manifesto of the urban local bodies polls here, Naidu promised to develop all the cities in Seemandhra and Telangana into modern cities.
'We would see that all the cities in both the regions get all the facilities. We will give special attention to the development of urban local bodies.'
He said that if his party won the local body polls he would develop all the municipal corporations and municipalities and would provide all the basic amenities to the citizens.
'We have prepared a nine point-formula for the development of urban local bodies. Our aim will be to develop all the cities in both Seemandhra and Telangana into modern cities.'
Announcing a series of sops, he said his party would give top priority to safe drinking water supply. 'We will see that there is no shortage of drinking water in cities and towns. We will launch NTR Sujala scheme under which 20 litres of mineral water will be made available for just Rs 2', he said.
Similarly, the greenery and cleanliness in the urban local bodies areas will be given high priority and the drainage facilities will be improved. His other promises include job to at least one member of a family in the state and houses for the homeless.
