Hyd Metro trains will be intelligent, says NVS Reddy HYDERABAD: Technology should serve the needs of people through any project undertaken by private sector enterprises or government organisations, Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director NVS Reddy has said.
Delivering a keynote address at Tech Mahindra's conference on 'Project Management in Connected World' here, he emphasised the need for project managers to be agile and alert to the needs of the people to deliver services and products at a very high speed in today's globalised and 'connected' world.
Illustrating how latest technologies were being harnessed for bringing competitive edge to Hyderabad city and for serving Hyderabadis through metro rail, he explained as to how the 'intelligent' metro trains which can communicate with each other and the sophisticated signalling and train control systems of CBTC (communication-based train control system) increase the speed, frequency and safety of metro trains.
The latest ticketing gate systems (AFC gates) with near-field communication (NFC) technology; ultra-modern coaches with ergonomic design suiting the average Indian body features; ballastless track with head-hardened rails and fastening systems increasing the riding comfort of trains and lowering noise levels; use of 'track master' for laying tracks with millimetre level accuracy, etc were explained.
Use of a curing compound to avoid utilisation and spillage of water while curing the concrete pillars and stations, global coordinates and digital global positioning system to avoid sensitive structures were highlighted by Reddy to goad engineers that they should use technology for the comfort and convenience of people and metro rail commuters.
