Narayana warns TDP against alliance with BJP VIJAYAWADA: CPI state secretary K Narayana has warned the TDP not to go ahead with the proposal for an alliance with BJP stating that it will be suicidal if it becomes a reality. Having considerable strength in Telangana, the BJP will also be strengthened in the residuary Andhra Pradesh if it gets the support of TDP and will disrupt peace, he added.
Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the CPI workers' meeting here, Narayana said that his party had been asking TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to join hands with the Third Front instead of sailing with BJP.
He said the BJP's strength would increase by leaps and bounds in three to four years in Seemandhra if the TDP forged an alliance with the party.
Eventually, BJP would swallow TDP, he warned and said, 'We are not concerned about the fate of TDP, but strengthening of the communal forces like BJP will pose a great threat to peace in the state.'
Speaking on the possible alliances, he said that discussions on a tie-up with CPM in the Assembly polls would come up soon.
When asked to react on the reports that their MLA from Wyra in Khammam district, Chandravathi, was quitting the party, Narayana said that there was no such move and blamed the media for the reports.
He also said that former MLA K Subba Raju was not leaving the party. He said that they were discussing the poll strategies at a meeting of the Seemandhra election committee in the city Sunday, and added that the new committees in Telangana and Seemandhra would come into existence only after June 2, the appointed day for Telangana state coming into existence.
Party Seemandhra committee members A Vanaja, K Aruna, M Nageswara Rao, K Rama Naidu, PJ Chandrasekhar, Jalli Wilson and Edpuganti Nageswara Rao attended.
