Sharmila calls Naidu, Kiran betrayers NELLORE: YSRC leader Sharmila kick-started her political campaign in Nellore district on Monday lashing out at TDP and Congress for dividing the state and sought the people's mandate for the development of the state.
Launching a broadside at opponents, Sharmila called TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu a 'psycho' and former CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy an 'irresponsible leader'.
Addressing an impressive gathering at Atmakur late on Monday evening, she warned that if the people repeat their mistake of voting either Congress or TDP to power, they once again have to face problems as both the parties failed on all fronts during their regimes.
Sharmila, who did not make any public appearance after Jagan Mohan Reddy's release from jail, except for attending the party's plenary at Kadapa, held both Naidu and Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for state bifurcation.
She said Andhra Pradesh is lagging behind in development and especially in the agriculture sector, which has almost 'disappeared' due to the mindless policies adopted during Chandrababu regime.
Sharmila said the prices of essential commodities, LPG gas and power bills skyrocketed during Kiran Kumar Reddy rule as the government looted the public by imposing different taxes on them .
She said the efforts of YSRC to restrict the Centre from misusing Article 3 of the Constitution went in vain due to lack of coordination among political parties, leading to division of the state.
Questioning the credibility of Kiran Kumar Reddy, who did not resign from his post on the day the UPA announced the decision to bifurcate AP, she said, 'Had he quit the post then, state bifurcation would not have happened as it would have led to a Constitution crisis.'
Appealing to the people to elect YSRC in all the ensuing elections, she said the party is keen on implementing various welfare schemes like interest-free loans to farmers and women by setting up a `3,000-crore 'Stireekarna Nidhi', total waiver of Dwcra loans, `700 pension to widows, `1,000 to disabled persons and others.
