OU conducts talk on Role of Industry in Telangana Hyderabad, March 18 (INN): The Department of Commerce, UCC & B M, of Osmania University, conducted a half a day talk on ' Prospective Telangana ' Role of Industry and Commerce', by Telangana JAC Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram and CS Ahalada Rao Vummenthala, Director, B5 Corporation , Pvt., Ltd., here on Tuesday.
Prof. K. Shankariah, HOD, Commerce invited the gathering with his welcome speech. He started his speech by asking everyone to stand in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect and to pay homage to all who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana.
He appraised the gathering on the role of the students in the movement. On the occasion he praised the efforts and contribution made by Prof. M. Kodandaram for his approach and leadership qualities.
Prof. S. V. Satayanarayana, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, speaking on the occasion conveyed that the transition phase in the formation of the new state was very critical and crucial and will sow the seeds for future development and growth of the state.
He focused on sustainable development and not repeat the process of depleting the resources and mines as in the state of Jharkand, and making the resources available for the future generations.
He emphasized on social infrastructure to be strengthened in terms of health, education and culture. Better transportation as a key element of economic infrastructure should be the focus through more express highways which will enhance the development of the state.
Prof. V. Appa Rao recalled the 1969 movement and the present movement and the contribution of intellectuals like Prof. M. Kodandaram in making it a grand success. He expressed that issues like poverty, underdevelopment, inequality and unemployment is to be addressed on a war footing speed in the newly formed Telangana.
Prof. G. Laxman, Chairman Board of Studies appraised that the difference in the earlier movements for the freedom of Telangana and the present one is due to the contribution of intellectuals like Prof. M. Kodandaram.
He spoke elaborately on the issue of corporate social responsibility and its role in developing the state of Telangana. He reiterated that the role of the students is much more in the future growth and development in the newly formed 29th state of India. He highlighted that through the struggle the students have the history makers.
Ahalada Rao, in his presentation conveyed that the splitting of Andhra Pradesh is a Boon and certainly not a bane for this country. He conducted a SWOT Analysis of the newly formed Telangana state.
His presentation was very well laced with animation and visuals to emphasize the issue of corporate and its role in the newly formed state. He spoke on a detailed agenda for each district in future.
In the process he discussed the AP reorganization Act. He suggested a four pronged initiative from the industrialists, citizens, central government and state government for taking the initiatives of the newly formed state ahead on the paths of prosperity.
Prof. M. Kodandaram in his message conveyed that achieving the state is one that and carrying it further to its desired destination in all together a different ball game and a lot is to be achieved and worked for.
He highlighted that the struggle was not merely for a geographical reorientation but for a better livelihood and standard of living for the people of this region.
He lauded the efforts of the smaller political parties, different student wings and the citizens for the vital role that they have played in this freedom struggle. He highlighted the need for rebuilding the state on a imminent basis.
He analyzed the schemes and policies of the erstwhile chief ministers and the reasons for disparities between the regions of Andhra and Telangana. He conveyed that forced privatization measures have robbed the citizens of its welfare.
Prof Kodandaram alleged that the real estate manipulated the politicians has lead to real estate driven development and drove away the traditional mode of development through ancillary units.
He reiterated that impetus should be given to encouraging and growth of MSME's and this will pave the way for growth in heavy and large scale industry.
He expressed that there is enough opportunities for the development of processing units, a forestation, agro based industries, horticulture, and river based fisheries. This region develops the best of seeds but processing units are lacking, storage facilitates are inadequate.
Enough scope for making this area as a hardware hub. A ripple effect as a consequence of the development of the MSME's should be the model of growth for the newly formed state and not driven by artificial real estate measures.
A strong political will should be the core pillar on which the future development should be based on. The citizens should be made aware of their rights and duties and they should be conscious and alert about the happenings and the students should play a vital role in this aspect, he said.
