Kiran's aide Veerasiva Reddy to join TDP KADAPA: Yet another senior Congress leader from the district switched loyalties to the TDP. Kamalapuram MLA G Veerasiva Reddy, who launched a broadside against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi during the Samaikyandhra agitation and a close aide of former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, announced on Thursday that he would join the TDP in a day or two in the presence of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
This, in one way, came as a big blow to Kiran Reddy's Jai Samaikyandhra party which was expecting staunch integrationists to join the party. Veerasiva Reddy, who held a press conference at Proddutur, took the occasion to slam the YSRC.
'It is a party of a family. Jagan and his family members including Vijayamma, Sharmila, P Ravindranath Reddy and Y S Avinash Reddy are trying their best to enter the legislative bodies but I will stop them,' he said.
Veerasiva Reddy said Jagan is trying to make Kamalapuram his territory like Pulivendula. 'I will not let it happen,' the senior leader said.
He also alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was responsible for the division of the state. 'He (Jagan) does not have any of his father's characteristics,' Veerasiva Reddy said and added that Jagan and Sonia Gandhi colluded to divide the state.
Heaping praises on Chandrababu Naidu, the senior leader said that the TDP chief is the only leader who can make the divided Seemandhra a Swarnandhra Pradesh. Veerasiva Reddy also said he would strive for the victory of TDP candidates in the ensuing local bodies elections.
'I am not aspiring for any position in the party,' he said. Veerasiva Reddy's entry into the TDP is a boost to the party as the party is making all efforts to consolidate its position in the district in the absence of Congress, which had almost wiped out in the district.
