YSR balanced welfare, development: Sharmila

Sattenapalli (Guntur dist), March 24 (INN): Reaffirming that YSR has changed the course of the state polity through his vision and has redefined the governance by balancing welfare and development, Sharmila has appealed to the people to vote for YSRCP to bring back the welfare state by strengthening the hands of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the ensuing multi-layer elections.

Speaking at a largely attended public meeting here on Monday, she said: YSR has looked beyond regional, political, caste and other such petty considerations and rolled out a plethora of welfare schemes to benefit all sections of the people.

While YSR has become synonymous to balancing welfare and development by carrying out the populist programmes without imposing any fresh taxes or increasing the power tariff, RTC bus fares or prices of other commodities, Chandrababu Naidu is never known for keeping his word and is seen as an opportunist who did not fulfill any of the poll promises.

YSR has looked at the benefit of farmers, workers, students, women, senior citizens and others while Naidu has followed the World Bank dictates and had least concern for the people.

He has the habit of hijacking others' ideas and programmes. He usurped the party and symbol from NTR, the founder president of TDP and he is now going to people telling that he had implemented some of the welfare schemes of YSR.

His nine year term was littered with farmers in distress as they were harassed with steeply increased power charges and the defaulters were dealt with harshly and jailed as well. Agriculture was destroyed driving farmers and weavers into indebtedness and suicides.

He refused to pay ex-gratia to the family members of the farmers who committed suicides. It was YSR who has given Rs 1 lakh ex-gratia to each family that lost the bread-earner besides waiving power dues and providing free power to farmers.

Jalayagnam was started to irrigate one crore acres of land, Aarogyasri has made quality medicare accessible to the poor, 108 ambulance service attended to emergencies while 104 provided medicare in rural areas.

After the death of YSR, all his welfare schemes were diluted and people were over burdened with higher power tariff, increased bus fares and hike in prices of all essential commodities.

Both Chandrababu Naidu and Kiran Kumar Reddy helped Delhi in splitting the state though YSRCP has made its best efforts to stall the process. Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YS Vijayamma and all the coordinators went on fast and national leaders of all political parties were met to stall the process.

We have to shape our own future and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the competent person for rebuilding the new state as he will carry forward all the welfare schemes of YSR and has five poll promises which include, free education to children, increasing old age pension to Rs 700, setting up of Market Stabilisation Fund, waiver of DWACRA group loans and decentralization of administration.

'Going by the contrast between us and other parties, I appeal you to cast your vote in favour of YSRCP fan symbol in the municipal, mandal, zilla parishad, assembly and lok sabha elections and strengthen the hands of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy,' she said.
