Raghuveera calls Kiran a great betrayer NELLORE: Terming former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and others who had deserted the Congress at a crucial stage as 'betrayers,' Seemandhra Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday stressed the need to rebuild the party by strengthening the cadre at the grassroot level.
Talking to newsmen here before the party's bus yatra, Raghuveera Reddy said that his party would not crumble with some leaders leaving it. 'The foundations of the party are strong.
It may appear that the party walls are slightly damaged but we will strengthen the same by educating people as well as the cadre about the party's positive and constructive policies,'' he said.
Finding fault with the opposition parties like the TDP, the YSRC and the BJP for putting the entire lame of state bifurcation on the Congress, he said that the day was very near when people would get to know who the real culprits were in this regard.
'We will take up a campaign by distributing brochures of the TDP and the YSRC and expose their acceptance in writing of the proposal to bifurcate the state,'' he added.
Admitting that his party was not in a position to contest all the seats in local body elections, the SPCC chief said this situation would not continue for long as the party would regain its past glory.
Reddy alleged that all the opposition parties, including the newly-floated Jai Samaikyandhra Party of Kiran Kumar Reddy, were indirectly supporting the BJP ostensibly with the intention of defeating the Congress at the Centre. ''But it will never happen as the Congress will retain power in the 2014 elections,'' he said confidently.
Claiming that the graph of the electoral prospects of the YSRC had come down drastically, Congress Election Campaign Committee chairman K Chiranjeevi said that YSRC leaders, who were once confident of their victory in the elections by gaining sympathy of the public, were now unsure of their win as party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to take up damage control measures and clear the allegations against him in the illegal assets case.
