Ashok Babu denies APNGOs backing TDP VIZIANAGARAM: Even while brushing aside reports of the APNGOs extending their support to the TDP in the forthcoming elections as media creation, the organisation state president Ashok Babu, however, admitted that they had indeed approached two parties to get tickets for some of their members to contest the general elections.
Addressing newsmen here, Ashok Babu defended the move saying it was done under pressure from some employees who led the Samaikyandhra movement.
As per the decision taken by the senior leaders of the APNGO that there was no objection to the members contesting the polls except on behalf of the Congress which had divided the state, Ashok Babu said they held talks with the TDP and YSRC seeking tickets to some of their colleagues. However, the parties had not given any assurance to them in this regard, he added.
Ashok Babu said the employees would support the parties which give priority to employees' issues and include them in the election manifesto. They have been appealing to the political parties to give due recognition to the role of employees in the development of a state.
APNGO leaders have been touring Seemandhra areas to spread awareness among the employees on these issues, the NGO chief said.
