BJP, TDP set to sail together NEW DELHI: Hectic parleys are on in Delhi to stitch up an alliance between the BJP and TDP after the state units of both the parties stood firm on their positions of getting maximum seats.
Earlier, sources in the BJP central leadership indicated that the alliance may not come about in Telangana, though the decision could be taken by the party leadership during the parliamentary board meeting late on Monday. But, an alliance may be worked out in Seemandhra region where both parties need each other.
As part of polishing the alliance plan, BJP president Rajnath Singh met chiefs of party state units here to seek their view on seat-sharing with the TDP and possibility of an alliance.
Rajnath is also likely to meet TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu before making the announcement. 'If a reasonable arrangement is not worked out with any other party, the BJP will fight all the seats in our state, both for Parliament and Assembly,' BJP Seemandhra unit chief K Haribabu said.
His counterpart in Telangana G Kishan Kumar had tweeted, 'No decision has been made on any alliances in Telangana region. Anything else being circulated in the media is pure speculation.'
'Our national president assured us that the issue would be discussed and settled by tomorrow evening. Discussions will go on from today evening to tomorrow evening. I think at any time some understanding may be reached and if there is no understanding, we will have our own plan of action,' Haribabu added.
Talking about the electoral dynamics at work, a senior BJP leader said, 'There is pressure on TDP leadership to enter into alliance with the BJP in Seemandhra so that together we are able to contain YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy.'
