Pinnamaneni, Mandali joins TDP HYDERABAD: Former minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao and Mandali Buddha Prasad have severed their long association with the Congress to join the TDP.
The two senior politicos, considered Congress heavyweights in Krishna district, took TDP membership on Wednesday in the presence of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu here.
Venkateswara Rao's father the late Koteswara Rao had served the Congress in different capacities for about 25 years, whereas Buddha Prasad's father Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao was a towering personality in Congress during 1960s and '70s.
After becoming members of TDP, Venkateswara Rao and Buddha Prasad said they had ended their relationship with Congress as its leadership had done injustice to Seemandhra while bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.
'We believe that TDP chief Naidu is the only leader who could develop the residuary Andhra Pradesh state,' they said.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said Congress had divided the state in such a manner that its leaders in Seemandhra, even from traditionally Congress families, are deserting it.
Jai Samaikyandhra Party chief N Kiran Kumar Reddy's close confidant Pithani Satyanarayana too is learnt to have decided to join the TDP, on April 4.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, film actor and former minister Babu Mohan, who had left the TDP recently, joined the TRS on Wednesday in the presence of party president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Babu Mohan is likely to be TRS candidate from Andhole Assembly segment in Medak district, against Congress sitting member and former deputy chief minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha.
