Alliances may change fate of MLA, MP aspirants KHAMMAM: Even as the notification for Assembly and General Elections in Telangana was issued Wednesday, the fate of MLA and MP aspirants in the district is dependent on the alliances among the political parties.
The BJP-TDP and the Congress-CPI pre-poll alliances are likely to be finalised soon. As per the notification, the elections will be held on April 30 for the 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. The nomination process, which began Wednesday, will end on April 9. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 12.
However, the political parties are gearing up to campaign individually and are also preparing to file nominations until the seat-sharing arrangements as part of the alliances are hammered out. This is leading to a lot of confusion among the cadre of different parties.
According to the present political scenario in the district, the TDP and YSRC have chances of winning the Khammam MP Lok Sabha seat individually.
The 10 Assembly segments in the district are Palair, Khammam, Sattupalli, Yellandu, Aswaraopet, Pinapaka, Bhadrachalam, Wyra, Kothagudem and Madhira.
The YSRC, TDP have accelerated their election campaign but TRS, CPI and CPM are still lagging behind.
According to the present political situation, if the Congress and CPI come to an agreement, they are likely to win Wyra, Pinapaka, Kothagudem, Khammam and Palair Assembly segments.
The TDP is hopeful of winning Khammam MP seat, Sattupalli, Khammam and Yellandu Assembly constituencies. The YSRC is also confident of winning the Khammam MP seat, Aswaraopet, Pinapaka, Bhadrachalam and Palair Assembly segments.
Local Congress leaders are confident that the party candidates in Palair, Khammam and Kothagudem Assembly segments will taste victory. TRS party is confident of winning in Kothagudem and Yellandu Assembly segments.
