Actor Ali to contest from Rajahmundry RAJAHMUNDRY: After the just-concluded municipal elections, all main political parties are focusing on the Assembly and general elections. The resurgent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is likely to spring a surprise by fielding popular film comedian Ali in the Rajahmundry Urban constituency, causing some anxious moments to former minister and senior TDP leader Gorantla Buchaiah Choudhary who is aspiring to contest for the seat.
To make matters worse for Choudhary, TDP official spokesperson Ganni Krishna is also said to be in contention for the seat.
Surprisingly, the TDP's top brass has not denied the reports of Ali being the probable candidate for the prestigious Assembly constituency, causing confusion among the cadre.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jaganmohan Reddy is said to have decided to offer the party ticket to clothier Bommana Raj Kumar and the latter is making arrangements for filing his nomination.
However, former Congress MLA Routhu Surya Prakasa Rao, who recently donned the YSRC robes, is leaving no stone unturned to obtain the ticket to seek re-election from the constituency.
TDP top brass has almost confirmed the candidature of Maganti Murali Mohan for Rajahmundry parliamentary seat. Even as the alliance between BJP and TDP is yet to be finalised, there is no clarity over whether the party will contest for the Rajahmundry Urban Assembly seat and the Rajahmundry parliamentary constituency.
