TDP finally bows to BJP over poll deal Hyderabad : The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is determined to sort out the irritants over seat sharing with the Bharatiya Janata Party and seal the deal in the next 24 hours.
The regional party is prepared to yield some more ground to the saffron party in the overall interests of the poll tie-up.
A marathon five-hour long meeting of TDP's politburo at N Chandrababu Naidu's residence here on Thursday decided resolve the differences over choice of seats by holding further talks with BJP leadership.
Speaking to mediaafter the conclusion of the politburo meeting, party MP Ramesh Rathod said that the seat sharing issue would be sorted out by Friday evening. "The politburo meeting has decided to contest the elections in alliance with the BJP at any cost by sorting out the existing differences.
Barring a few seats, which led to cropping up of differences, both the TDP and BJP have reached an understanding on seat sharing arrangement. The differences would be sorted out by Friday evening," he said and that the first list of the contesting TDP comes to terms with BJP candidates would be ready in the next two days.
Party sources said that both the parties have agreed on the formula under which the TDP will allot 45 Assembly and eight Lok Sabha seats to the BJP in Telangana. But, there are differences over the choice of constituencies as both the parties are keen on contesting in at least 15 Assembly seats.
In Seemandhra region, the BJP is demanding six Lok Sabha and 20 Assembly constituencies. However, the TDP is willing to give five Lok Sabha and 15 Assembly seats.
Some of the contentious Assembly constituencies in Telangana include L B Nagar, Uppal, Patancheru, Peddapally, Musheerabad, Khairatabad, Kalwakurthy, Parigi, Medchal, Maheshwaram, Narayanpet and Mahabubnagar.
For instance, the BJP is pitching for Uppal constituency from where it wants to field its senior leader N V S S Prabhakar, but the TDP is reluctant to give up its claim.
The TDP is willing to give ticket to senior leader T Devender Goud's son Veerender Goud, who has been active on the field there. Apart from Hyderabad and Secunderabad MP Seats, the BJP is insisting on Malkajgiri, Medak and Chevella.
