Seemandhra BJP invites Modi for public meeting TIRUPATI: The Seemandhra BJP unit is planning to prevail upon its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to tour and hold public meetings at at least four cities of the residuary State ahead of the elections.
Speaking to reporters at Tirupati before proceeding to Nellore to participate in the 'Modi for PM' campaign, BJP Seemandhra President K Haribabu said the manner in which the bifurcation process was done left the people of the State in disarray.
'We have requested Modi to tour the residuary State to heal the injuries of the people here. We asked him to tour at least four places including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Rajahmundry. According to the availability of his schedule, he is likely to tour the State,' Haribabu said.
Haribabu also said that the party's alliance would be finalised in a day or two. 'As on today, no alliance has been struck. If we strike an alliance, we will go to elections jointly or else we will go alone,' Haribabu said.
Later, reacting to a query that the party is apprehensive that the TDP would not cooperate with its (BJP) candidates during election, Haribabu said there are apprehensions among the leadership in view of previous experiences. 'We should cooperate with each other if we strike a deal,' he said.
On a question that the alliance talks have reached a stalemate over the Visakhapatnam MP seat, aspired by BJP leader and former union minister D Purandeswari, he said the party leadership will look into it.
Purandeswari, replying to a query, said that she did not join the party only after an assurance that she will get an MP seat. 'The high command takes a decision from where I should contest or to give me a responsibility in the party,' she said.
Asked whether she too was contacted by Congress top leaders on the lines of former Congress leader GV Harsha Kumar getting a phone call to rejoin the party, Purandeswari replied in negative. She refused to comment on her actor-politician brother's political debut.
