Speed up Secretariat 'division: Governor Hyderabad : Governor E S L Narasimhan directed officials to speed up allocation of building blocks for the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Narasimhan told officials to take up all measures to fully equip the blocks with adequate staff, computers and facilities and then divide them equally to cater to the needs of the two States.
Earlier, the Governor made a visit to various blocks in the Secretariat along with Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and other officials. While the Telangana government is expected to get A, B, C and D blocks, its Chief Minister is likely to get North H block.
Similarly J, K, L blocks are meant for Andhra Pradesh, South H Block will be given for its Chief Minister. A new gate will also be constructed on Necklace Road side and will be given to AP government, in case the old gate is not allocated.
While, the existing gate opposite Lumbini Park will be retained for the Telangana Government, according to sources. Nonetheless, in the wake of the Governor's visit, officials were feeling the pinch to complete the process of division of offices, blocks and staff.
Narasimhan's visit assumes significance in the wake of officials being given a deadline to complete the division process by April 30. Now, officials are likely to speed up the process with regard to division of files, assets, liabilities and blocks besides distribution of IAS and other officers.
On the other hand, two States will begin functioning from the appointed day, June 2. It may be noted that the Kamalanathan Committee has already began functioning to speed up the process of division of staff among other things. The Governor also made a visit to Assembly, Council and Jubilee Hall.
