Naidu defends poll alliance with BJP KADAPA: Days after forging an alliance with the saffron party, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu tried to explain the people about the necessity to join hands with the NDA once again and also to gave an assurance to the minorities that the TDP will see that they are safe and secure.
He also announced a slew of developmental activities that he would take up for reconstructing the Seemandhra region and more particularly Kadapa district, if his party is voted to power.
Addressing the party's Praja Garjana meeting here on Monday, Naidu tried to quell the apprehensions among minoritites about their safety under the BJP-led NDA regime.
Kadapa has a good number of Muslims and it is likely that the Kadapa assembly seat is likely to be contested by the BJP. Though the meeting in Kadapa was the first one that Naidu was addressing after his alliance with the BJP, not a single saffron party flag was noticed in the roadshow and the meeting evoked good response.
The lone party leader who could be seen was A Harinath Reddy, who is aspirant for Kadapa assembly seat and he shared the dias with Naidu. BJP has a minimal presence in the district.
During his marathon speech, Naidu said that NDA has taken up several developmental activities across the nation. Stating that the NDA had initiated several works for Muslims like introducing direct flights to Jeddah and others, Naidu assured that communal harmony will be intact till the TD is in power.
Naidu said joining hands with NDA is a need of hour as the Centre's help is needed to reconstruct Seemandhra. ''Don't get disheartened that the state is divided and you have lost your jobs and other fruits of development. I have the guts to develop the region again and I will do it with your support,'' he said.
DL Skips Meet
Former minister and Mydukur strongman DL Ravindra Reddy, who recently joined the TDP, was conspicuous by his absence. Though several leaders like G Veerasiva Reddy, N Varadarajulu Reddy, M Mallikarjuna Reddy, R Ramesh Kumar Reddy and R Srinivasulu Reddy alias Vasu, all of whom hail from the district and recently joined the yellow brigade attended the meeting, Ravindra Reddy gave it a miss.
