Vanama's entry into YSRC triggers suicide bids
KHAMMAM: The entry of former minister and district Congress president Vanama Venkateswara Rao into YSR Congress has sparked a wave of suicide bids in the constituency.
As the news broke out, a party activist, protesting the move, jumped from YSRC Kothagudem constituency incharge Yadavalli Krishna's house and got severely injured.
It is learnt from informed sources that another YSRC activist Nannemiya died of cardiac arrest after knowing Vanam's entry into the party.
The YSRC cadre in Kothagudem assembly constituency is vehemently opposing the move. The constituency convener Yadavalli Krishna who has been aspiring for assembly ticket is deeply hurt with the turn of events.
The resentment reached to such a point that Krishna's wife Susheela also tried to end life by hanging herself in her house in Palvoncha. However, followers of Adavalli saved her from taking the extreme step.
YSRC mahila conveners Saleemunnesa and Kalavathi also tried to commit suicide by pouring kerosene and setting themselves afire. Some party activists destroyed election campaign vehicles and burnt flexes at various places.
It may be recalled that Yadavalli Krishna and Vanama Venkateswara Rao who are close relatives have bitter rivalry between them. While Yadavalli was hopeful of getting YSRC ticket after working hard in the constituency, the entry of Vanama has affected his chances of getting a ticket.
It is said that the poll pact between the Congress and CPI in which Congress had to leave Kothagudem seat to former has forced Vanama to join YSRC. As Vanama has been given the B Form from YSRC for Kothagudem constituency, Yadavalli Krishna is making arrangements to contest as independent.
