Rebels out to play spoil sport Hyderabad: Rebel menace has hit all major parties in Telangana. After failing to get official nominations, several leaders of the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi have turned rebels and filed their papers against the official candidates at several places in the region.
They are in such large numbers that they might play spoilsport and influence the poll outcome in many constituencies. More than the rival candidates, the parties are worried about the impact of rebels within their ranks and how much damage they can do to the official nominees.
Telangana Congress has faced rebel candidates' menace on the last day for filing nominations to Assembly and Parliamentary seats in several districts forcing the party to take steps to ensure that they leave the arena.
At several places, disgruntled Congress leaders have turned rebels and filed their nominations against the official candidates. In Karimnagar district, G Mukunda Reddy filed nomination against the official nominee while P Ravindar Reddy in Huzurabad and D Narasinga Rao in Karimnagar town are in the fray as rebels.
In Rangareddy district, Malreddy Ranga Reddy filed nomination against CPI candidate, the alliance partner of Congress, in Maheshwaram while Krishna Rao entered the fray as an independent in Malkajgiri, A Chandrasekhar in Vikarabad and Venkataswami in Chevella.
In Adilabad district, Ramachandra Reddy filed the nomination as rebel. In Nalgonda district, P Sravanthi filed the papers against the official candidate in Munugodu, Balu Naik in Devarakonda, R Srinivas in Miryalaguda and in Warangal district D Madhava Reddy filed papers against the official nominees.
The main opposition Telugu Desam Party was also hit by rebel menace. Party State organizing secretaries P L Srinivas and Sama Ranga Reddy filed their nominations as rebel candidates in Secunderabad and L B Nagar Assembly Constituencies respectively.
TDP's LB Nagar Constituency in-charge Krishna Prasad also resigned from the party and filed his nomination papers from the same constituency as a rebel candidate. LB Nagar seat was allotted to BC leader R Krishnaiah who had recently joined the party.
TDP Youth leader Lankala Deepak Reddy is also in the fray as a rebel candidate from Khairatabad Assembly Constituency as the seat was handed over to BJP as part of alliance between the two parties. In Karimnagar district, TDP Leader G Venkateswarlu filed his nomination papers as the rebel candidate from Karimnagar Assembly seat.
