Dattatreya keeps away Kishan from poll campaign HYDERABAD: It seems senior BJP leader and party nominee for Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, Bandaru Dattatreya has not forgiven party Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy for trying to snatch his seat.
Their difference came to fore during the flagging off of Dattatreya's election campaign vehicle from the state party office.
Dattatreya has readied five 'Prachara Rathams' for campaigning and they were flagged off by party general secretary Muralidhar Rao and former governor V Rama Rao. Interestingly, Kishan Reddy was also present when the vehicles were flagged off.
Normally, every party candidate displays party's prominent leaders and state unit president's photos on their campaign vehicles. But Dattatreya choose not to display Kishan's photos.
The vehicle had the photographs of all prominent leaders of the party including BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, former PM Atal Bhihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.
The vehicle even carried the photos of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Even the campaign materials including pamphlets do not carry the photographs of Kishan Reddy.
Kishan, who was supposed to be present at a meeting called by Dattatreya for the candidates of both BJP and TDP nominees of the Assembly segments of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, came after the meeting and had lunch with the candidates.
However, the body language of Kishan Reddy clearly indicated that he was not comfortable in Dattatreya's company. When mediapersons confronted him, he said that he was not bothered about such issues.
It is a well known fact that Kishan Reddy was desperate to contest the Secunderabad Parliamentary seat. However, Dattatreya prevailed upon party national leadership and saw to it that he got the seat. It is learnt that both the leaders had heated arguments in front of the party leadership in Delhi and had even threatened each other.
At one time it was looking as if the Telangana BJP chief would snatch the seat from Dattatreya but the old horse managed to prevail upon the party leadership and secure the seat for himself.
