Naidu banks on own Image to romp home HYDERABAD: Whether it is Seemandhra or Telangana, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu seems to be banking on his own image to regain power. 'I have a proven track record as chief minister. Vote for our party. We will reconstruct the new State from scratch' ' is his constant refrain in Telangana too.
Naidu, who had initially solely banked on the plank of a 'BC CM', has now begun recalling the efforts he made to put Hyderabad on the international map during his nine-year tenure as CM.
On a whirlwind tour of the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday night, the TDP chief repeatedly talked up his claims of contribution to the IT sector in Hyderabad.
'We have forged an alliance with the BJP to develop both Seemandhra and Telangana on all fronts. If the TDP comes to power in the Telangana State and the BJP-led NDA is voted to power at the Centre, we will transform the new State into a progressive State,' he told people while addressing various public meetings.
Taking strong exception to the remarks of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao that the TDP is a party of Andhras, Naidu thundered, 'KCR is a man who bites the hand that feeds him.
How could the TRS chief, who is singing paeans to Sonia Gandhi, an Italian, brand the TDP as a party of Andhras? He should be ashamed of himself for praising an Italian to the skies and branding the party, which had given him a political career, as a party of Andhras.'
He also questioned, 'Why was Taraka Rama Rao (son of KCR) named after TDP founder NT Rama Rao, if the TDP is really a party of Andhras?'
Attacking the TRS chief for reneging on his earlier promise of making a Dalit and a Muslim the first CM and deputy CM of the T state respectively, Naidu said, 'KCR is notorious for breaking promises and making empty promises.'
